VISIT OF ZIMBABWE NATIONAL DEFENCE UNIVERSITY DELEGATION 02 JULY 2019

A twenty-four member Zimbabwe Defence University (ZNDU) Delegation led by “AVM  Michael Tedzani Moyo, Vice-chancellor and Commandant ZNDU visited CIPS/ Peacekeeping Training Department on 02 July 2019. The members were students officers from the Zimbabwean Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civilians. They were received by Major General Farrukh Bashir (Retd) Principal NIPCONS and Assistant professor and Associate Dean CIPS Brig Dr. Tugral Yamin (Retd).
The Head of Department briefed the delegation about NUST/ CIPS and Peacekeeping Training being conducted at CIPS as per UNSCR and Integrated Training Service (ITS) policy/ material and instructions. The briefing was followed by an interactive session with the participants wherein issues deliberated/ discussed were regarding the NUST journal publications its contents and contributors/ writers, the conflict in the southern region of DR Congo and its effects on UN Peacekeeping, the language barrier/ problems faced by peacekeepers while operating in francophone countries and how they are tackled and lastly how best practices and lessons learned from different peacekeeping missions are contemplated, positively used, summarized and carried forwarded. The questions generated a very healthy and thoughtful discussion among the visiting delegates. They were responded by Principal NIPCONS, Associate Dean and Head of Department. At the end of the presentation, the VC and Commandant were presented with NUST and Peacekeeping Dept shields. The VC and Commandant of ZDDU also presented Zimbabwe National Defence University shield to Principal NIPCONS.
The delegates members then visited the ongoing training of UN Staff Officers Course were they were briefed about the methodology and conduct of the course. The delegation then visited Jinnah Auditorium where they were briefed about the activities like Seminars, Discussions, Roundtable Conferences, and Symposiums being undertaken jointly by PCS and PKT Department. The visiting delegates were highly impressed by Auditorium capacity and layout. They were requested for a group photograph.
The delegation was served with refreshment in Jinnah Mess before being seen off by Principal NIPCONS and other faculty members/ staff.
